Ask Buffalo State > Prospective and Accepted Students > Meet other students

I hope I won't be viewed as politically incorrect for naming the topic "adult" learners (we're all adults!).

I'm 47 years old and returning to college this fall at Buffalo State to pursue a second career. I would like to meet others who are doing similar & would like to meet new friends.

Hello I am also an adult learner and no you are not politically incorrect for saying that. It even asks that on the application! I am 36 years old and will be transferring to Buff State in the spring to pursue a teaching career in Secondary Ed Earth Science with a second certification in Biology. I am also minoring in Theatre. What's your major?

No...I don;t think there is anything wrong with the Adult learner part either. Yes we are all adults, but I also get your meaning.

I too am in school at an "advanced" age of 47. I earned my Associate Degree two years ago and now want to achieve my Bachelor Degree in Social Work. So off I go to Buff State in the fall. I am very excited about this semester coming and can't wait for it to start!!! Looking so forward to it. Hope to hear from you.

I am also seeking my teaching certification in Biology/Earth Science.. minoring in Environmental Science. I've been a Registered Nurse for the past 15 years & pursuing that "second love" of teaching. What kind of work do you currently do?

Hi Lynn... I tried to reply to both messages the other day & there was a "flood" filter on so it kept me from posting. Doesn't seem to be there tonight. I'm really looking forward to going back - my kids (ages 15 & 9 at home) think its funny that I need school supplies this year too laugh.gif Are you working & going to school? I work full time M-F 9-5 as a home health nurse so I know its going to be a little tough at least in the beginning... planning on 9-10 credits (3 classes).

Right now I'm on Disability due to personal health reasons. But I'm really into theatre and I will be directing a play for the first time this fall. I'm totally excited. I'm currently at N-Trip right now and I graduate in December.

I am an "adult learner" as well. I am 36 years old, I have 2 children, and I used to be a paralegal. I am now going for my degree in education. This fall will be my first semester at BSC.
