Well I hope some parents jump in here because I am stumped. When my son when to college I had no problem I called enterprise rented a LARGE SUV , packed it in and done. Moved up in and back home 1 day.

Well now my problem is I spent ALLL DAY Sunday trying to get a large SUV and their are none to be had.

So I rented a SUV similar to a trailblazer. I just know this is not big enough. So Here are some other thoughts.


I may fly up and meet my daughter and husband their. That gives more room in the SUV because I forgot since we're going to be their 2 days for orientation ( what's that about !) that we need luggage also.

Then I looked into a pickup truck but that doesn't give us enough miles and I'm not sure how comfortable that is. But the amount spent on airfare would compensate for the extra miles we have to pay for.


Then I looked at Penske they have a one way truck that's $302 but only seats 2 which means driving 2 vehicles.

I'm so mad I could scream. What are others doing.

My daughter's roommate is coming by bus with one bag and something else. I don't know how that's going to work for her.

I know the refrigerator is one seat buy itself.....

oh well waiting to here from others.

Maybe you can try mailing up some stuff that she wont need right away a week before. Winter clothes, printer, ect. If you mail it out a week before she is going to get to school it should be there by the time she gets up here, or maybe a day or two later. And if it does come late, it wont be an issue since she wont need stuff like a winter coat, boots, sweaters until much later. My room mate my first semester here just came up with 2 suitcases of clothes since she was coming from virginia. She the spent the next 2 days in target and walmart buying all the things she needed for her room, so maybe thats what your daughters roommate is doing.

That's what I was thinking. Whatever doesn't fit in the truck doesn't go up and I'll mail it.

My other silly concern was how far is your post office l from the dorms? I can't see her lugging around this huge box trying to get it to her dorm.

If you mail a package to someone on campus it should be sent to their dorm and held in the RA office of their building. They will receive a slip in their mailbox saying they have a package and all they have to do is go to the RA's while they are sitting desk and pick up their package.

I live very far away,(Florida) and really wanted to drive up to make it easier to get everything there (ford explorer) but instead I am flying with my mom up, I am putting my stuff in her two bags she is limited to, and shes will put her clothes in a carry on. So I will have 4 medium size suitcases and I am ups grounding a trunk as well.
