How should I get my stuff to Buffalo? Options

Hello there guys I live many miles away from Buffalo (NYC) and I'm taking a plane to the school for my move in date (August 25). Anyways I got a bunch of stuff I need to take with me to Buffalo but because I live far and I'm flying over there I need UPS to ship it for me. So the question is I want my stuff to get to Buffalo before me but I don't know if that's possible because I don't know if the school will hold it for me until I get there or something. If they do hold it for me where do I send my stuff? How does it all work?
