The topic title says it all: my roommate is moving out; he found an apartment and his parents are going to take care of the cost. He had told me since the beginning about this, but the question is: What do I do now? Do I get another roommate? If so, when and how? Or, do I get to live by myself, which I would hate?

Usually they would move someone in from the hotels, but since this is already week 6 im not too sure. you might have a single until the spring semester starts.

I live in a residence hall for freshmen only. Students living in the hotels are (I think) transfer students. Can I make a request or something for a roommate? I understand that many students are obligated to live in triples, so maybe it would be better for them to share a room with one person as opposed to two.

If your roommate is moving out now at this time, they won't move a new person. The room should already be paid for for the semester, so both of you are allowed to live in it or not.

Enjoy your single, he/she is allowed to come back at any time in the semester though so even though it sounds permanent, he/she did pay for half of it and is entitled to it if there's a change in plans.

Only if its as a room transfer, where they would just be switching who lives where; the student who moved out is still entitled to a room if they want to come back, Buff State won't give their spot away until the dorming contract is expired.
