If you're into the party scene, there's Chippewa Ave. It's close to downtown (about a 15-minute drive by car, also accessible by bus) and has 3 major clubs.

Movie theatre is just up the street, about a 7-minute drive.

There are several malls in Buffalo. The most "popular" is the Walden Galleria, which can be accessed by the bus (about an hour ride) or by car (20 minute drive).

Other than that, there's a lot of cool theatre (Shea's downtown in particular) and also lots of cool little coffee shops and stores all down Elmwood Avenue. I'd suggest visiting Artvoice.com so you can get a good idea of events in the area.

Hope this helped =]

This is a good time of year to take a 2 hour cruise on the Miss Buffalo Boat, located in Downtown Buffalo, NY also Niagara Falls, NY is great this time of year . Other than that, the only thing I could recommend is going to see a band or going out to eat. If you don't mind the drive and have a passport.. Toronto, Ontario Canada is only a 2 1/2 hour drive by car. There's lots to do there... beaches, A Shoe Museum, and the Ontario Science Center are just a few examples.

Also in Buffalo there's a few nice parks like Beaver Island and Evans and Angola State Park. They both have a beach and picnic areas.

I hope this helps !

Honestly, in my opinion, if you don't have a car there's pretty much nothing entertaining that you can do. I would suggest when school starts getting that bus pass and getting on the bus. The Galleria mall is about 10 or 20mins from campus, there's a movie theater on Elmwood (REGAL) and the nightlife is Chippewa all the way..lol. If you get a friend with a car, I hear Depew is fun as well.

as someone who also comes from nyc i can tell you that b-lo is DULL when compaired to nyc. If you have a car you can travel where ever and find something entertaining to do, but, if u dont have a car like i dont then you have to use the bus and ur options are limited. The galleria mall is like a 45 min bus ride from campus, but unless ur one of those people who is entertained by walking the mall then the only thing to do there if go the the movies. If you are into the art there are always lots of shows going on. If you like clubbing you can go down to chippewa, and there is a late night bus on friday and saturday nights (aka the drunk bus) that runs until 4am so u dont have to worry about cabs/driving and it picks up and drops off right on campus. Other then that my advise to you is to make friends and have fun, especially once the winter comes, cuz then ur not gonna wanna go anywhere

please, in comparison to nyc buffalo the party scene is just depressing. i think if you have a car there are more options but unless they involve getting so drunk you forget that you're even here, then it's not worth it.

Well..... it would be hard to find ANY city with a nightlife like NYC.....
Unfortunately, moving from the most jumpin' city in the world to just about any place else is going to seem a bit boring. On the other hand, anybody from just about any other area of NY other than Buffalo and the city are going to find Buffalo overwhelming.

I suppose you could take a page from The Goo Goo Dolls and go find Broadway and drink? Although idk if that song makes me want to go there lol.

I'm from Buffalo and if you're adventurous there is lots of fun stuff you can find. Hockey season is the BEST! laugh.gif It can get crazy downtown during Hockey season and lots of ppl go out to catch the game at bars and stuff. Also there are a ton of little boutiques and restaurants on Elmwood Ave. (I recommend spot coffee and delish for little eateries that you can grab something sweet and something caffinated at). And I agree that Chippewa Ave. is deff the best for nightlife.

Difficult to compare Buffalo and NYC haha. But seriously, Niagara is pretty fun, and as someone above mentioned, if you need a big city and want something different than NYC go to Toronto. No shortage of things to do there.

It is always good prepare for having fun.

For crossing borders just take your passport with you in case of any issues.
You don't want to frustrate and stuck on your way to fun place. sleep.gif

I love traveling around the world, but I've never been Buffalo.
Please let me know, how and what you have done there.
