We are aware that many of you may have been affected by Hurricane Sandy or may have family and friends who are impacted. You may have become even more aware of the devastation after going home for the Thanksgiving break.

It is normal to feel strong emotions like anger, sadness and helplessness as well as disturbed sleep and appetite after a critical incident like this. Things that you may find helpful and should engage in includes connecting with friends (rather than isolating), calling family, talking out your thoughts and feelings and engaging in activities you enjoy.

The Dean of Student’s office is also making available two support sessions for interested students to share coping strategies and self-care suggestions since many of you will soon be returning home. The sessions are scheduled for:

Date: Monday, December 3rd

Time: 4p.m. – 5p.m.

Place: Room 203, Weigel Health Center

and

Date: Friday, December 7th

Time: 2p.m. – 3p.m.

Place: Room 203, Weigel Health Center

Remember, if you want individual assistance for your concerns, please contact the College’s Counseling Center at 716-878-4436 to schedule an appointment or walk in to the second floor of Weigel. Thank you.
