I have just received the email regarding "New 2011-2012 SAP Policy - Federal Aid Eligibility". I do not understand exactly what is factored into the "150% of the normal time required". Does this mean "attempted" credits, including withdrawls are counted towards the maximum 180 credits allowed? This semester I had to handle a 4 week medical emergency with my daughter and I needed to withdraw from 3 classes rather than fail. (of course I have "hospital emergency" documentation) But is this something that can cancel my Federal Aid for Spring 2012? I am a transfer student and prior to this semester I show an "overall" attempted 104/passed 95 of credits.

If your program is 120 credit hours, this would be multiplied by 150% and you would have up to 180 total attempts (this includes all coursework attempted) to receive your degree and maintain financial aid eligibility. All coursework for the fall 2011 will be reviewed after the fall grades are posted for continued eligibility for the spring 2012 semester. Students who are in jeopardy or in their "warning" semester will be notified by mail and what steps to take to resolve the issue.

Thank You I now understand the "attempts" rule but i still have to ask: is that meaning that only the fall semester is reviewed for Spring 2012 eligibility or are the cummulatives included when reviewed (after fall grades post)?

We review the fall grades and total attempted hours after each semester to determine continued eligibility for financial aid.

TY. I just reviewed the "example calculations" explaining PACE and I am ok according to my PACE calculations. (I got nervous for a while there!)

Minimum Pace rate (formerly known as Completion rate) for Attempted Credit Hours - Quantitative Component
 An undergraduate student and a graduate student must successfully complete at least two-thirds (66.67%) of all cumulative attempted credit hours.
 New freshmen are required to successfully complete at least half (50%) of the credits they attempt during each of their first two semesters. Starting with their third semester, they are then required to successfully complete two-thirds (66.67%) of their cumulative attempted credit hours.
• Pace is calculated using the formula: Cumulative Credits Successfully Completed ÷ Cumulative Credits Attempted
 The following designations are considered to be attempted credit hours but are not considered to be successfully completed: I, N, X, W, U, E, and F grades and courses removed through the academic clemency process. Noncredit remedial courses are counted at their credit equivalence (1 to 3 credits).
 Transfer credit hours posted to the official transcript record will be counted as attempted and successfully completed credits.
 Courses removed through the academic clemency process will be counted as attempted credit hours but not counted as successfully completed.

We will notify students who are in jeopardy after the fall grades are posted and reviewed.

We just needed to notify students of the change in policy. It will not affect most students but some it will.
