You could have it money grammed, many places (grocery stores and Walmart) can do that. The other person sends the money, gives you a confimation number, and you go and receive it, as fast as within the hour its sent.

Most of the loans, and grants won't be seen until at least the second week of September. You can however go to the financial aid office, and request a book deferment before classes start ( I did mine last week) and request an amount to use at the Book store. The book store will allow you to get the books you need and they have most supplies (pens, pencils, notebooks, calculators, ect.) this way you will be prepared, and they remove it from your financial aid.

Good luck and enjoy your semester! happy.gif

I have a situation with the college I transferred from, I am currently in a class action lawsuit against them, they used deceptive tactics to enroll, several lies and the education was horrible. I came to Buffalo state, and as it pertained to the law, my credits had to be transferred. 88 of them to be exact, but my degree was not offered here anyway, and even if it was, I would need to re-take all the credits just to have learned what I should of in the classes so I would actually come out with an education an be ready for my field. So I had to choose a new degree. Currently I have 123 credits (pending the fall) and still have about 90 credits to complete my degree. That would mean my banner would have over 200 credits on it, and financial aid will run out before I get my degree.
Like I said, I have been in contact with a law firm in Flordia, pursuing a class action lawsuit against this for-profit college and their tactics, as well as the board of education of Colorado, I have notified the Chairman of Senate Committee of education, Tom Harkin of these actions since the committee is investigating the school I went to. I have also written a letter to the Senator of ny, and I will be interviewed by CBS this week about for-profit schools.

I am seeking my Sallie Mae loans to be repaid by the school I went to and relief of any debt and complete removal of the credits on my transcript.

At this point, I need to speak to someone whom can sit down, look at my issue and see how I can be helped, with only the credits I have earned from Buffalo State College, and have all credits removed from this crooked College. Since the only way to remove credits from a transcript is to appeal to the committee of academics, I figured that is who I would need to speak to?

Please let me know.

I would also like to know what is going on with that as well.

Anyone know what changes were made? Overall tap awards go down 75.00, is the tuition increasing as well?

I think the courses are great for level 100 classes, maybe even level 200 but once you start getting upper division courses, you want to ensure you are in the classroom to get a good handle on the information in case you need any help.

My bad experience was with a college completely online (currently in class lawsuit) the education was no more than here read this book, post a discussion and you get an A. I walked out of each of the courses not really knowing more than when I walked in.

There is a place and a huge market for online courses, but it needs to be done correctly. certain classes should never be done online, lol.

I have taken online courses at another college and my experience was a bad one. I am hoping this time around my experience will be a good one. Both me and my husband will be taking 2 courses online and 2 courses on campus in the fall.

I think it is a great help to those who have to work around a schedule like me and my husband. With work and a 1 yr old it is difficult for us to go to school, although we are doing it, I wish more classes were offered online to help our schedule be easier.

I think certain classes are a good candidate for online:

General education and more lecture courses, but obviously there are just some courses that need and should be taught on campus. I believe Math is certainly one of them happy.gif

Honestly there are so many pro's and cons, that it really does come down to the course and the teacher and how well it is planned out and taught. It is more difficult to have class discussions online.

does it matter to my financial aid if two of my courses are on campus and 2 are online? Will my financial aid differ?

Yep for commuters it is just as bad. I have been late to class just about every day cause I cannot find parking, though I arrive at least 20 min before school starts, and sometimes earlier than that. Then on top of things I have to park on the other side of grant and walk to bulgur in the cold with asthma. It is absoulty ridiculous to pay for parking, if and when I can get it. Once I even had to NOT go to class because there was no parking.
