I actually walked a few days ago but I have to retake a class over the summer for my diploma. I wasn't expecting this to happen, but it has. I need one course which is offered the first session. I talked to the professor teaching it and he said he would allow me to force in however I am left wondering about my options for living. I currently reside in Long Island so I can't just comute, however I am wondering what possibilities are out there. I know I could try to get a house off campus, but finding a place and getting roomates would be hard with no time to prepare. I believe you can't live on campus during summer session unless you are full time. Any help would be appreciated.

If it is the case that it was a prank then their timing was damn near perfect.

Indeed, lately the internet here has been much faster. As to the question by the potential transfer student most webpages and applications work very well. Applications that are direct Peer to Peer connections for the most part dont work. Things like Limewire will not really connect to people outside of Buffalo State's network, however other Limewire users on the buff state network will be a very high speed connection.

I am wondering why someone decided it would be a good idea to have a fire drill for all buildings(or so it seemed from the snow covered athletic field) at 3:44 AM and have students standing outside for over 20 minutes.

Now I know a fire drill now and then is usefull, however why would you have it at such an hour? Many students were standing in the snow(forced to stand in the by building RAs to make room for the fire truck that never actually inspected Tower 4) were dressed in pajamas and freezing. Furthermore it has now been 5 minutes after we reentered the building and the alarm is still going off.

Advertising class in Bulger, 3:00 PM. The professor is going to show the class some of the Superbowl comercials since it is an advertising class after all. The 30 second comercial took 5 minutes to load. Professor then went to say how it was taking a very long time to load back in the office as well, and that last year it was nearly instantly when loading the commercials and other videos.

I would like to thank the Resnet staff for allowing the class to sleep for 1/5th the class while we waited for videos to load.

I have sprint, and I like it. I have free in comming all the time, free out going after 7pm, and free sprint to sprint.

I have t-mobile, works just fine. Never have any problems in the buffalo area(or anywhere else for that matter).

1. Is it a pain to have to pay to wash and dry your laundry? I know other colleges allow you to wash/dry your clothes for free.

2. What is your favorite part of living on campus, what is your least favorite part?

3. Do you find it annoying that all the food centers are in the student union (do you with they were spread out), or do you find it conveniet?

4. Is it hard to meet new people or is it easy?

5. If I decide to go to Buffalo State, should I join clubs to meet new people? What kind of clubs are there?

1] As said before its 1$ per wash $0.50 for a dryer run, though I put in an extra quarter on the dryer. But the washer/dryer is small, can probalby fit a week-week and a half worth of laundry in a single load assuming you don't wear a lot of sweaters or change your clothes 3 times a day. If you are in the towers, the closest change machine is the student union and it is a pain to get quarters if you don't have them. So be smart and save your quarters, other than the quarters the only other issue is the fact that dolts tend to leave their crap in the washer/dryer for a long time after it finished.

2] The people here are great, iv made so many friends since comming here. The worst part? The internet connection, it may seem like a weird thing to have a problem with; but games are all but impossible to play online, and during certain times of the day(basically noon to 5pm) even trying to check websites is painfully slow. Another good thing are the easy to get to bars and other vendors of alcohol.

3] I don't eat the school food, I go shopping and buy my own. Saves money and tastes better.

4] Assuming you don't end up with a bunch of suitemates who keep to themself, you can't help but meet new people. You meet your roomate/suitemate, become friends, meet their friends and so on. Before you know it theres a good solid group that goes out drinking.

5] Lots of clubs, mostly academic or minority based. You won't find the hackey sack club or the checkers club but you will find lots of public interest and such groups. Do a search for USG on the buff state website. As for joining, that is up to you.

is there anyway we can set up connections to the internet so that we can connect our video game consoles for updates when needed? i personally have a new nintendo wii and in order to use some functions you have to download new updates through the internet. i think the people who also own 360's and ps3's can also agree with me. thanks

Sorry but the answer is basically no. You can technically connect them to the internet; but the connection will be so damn slow it is unlikly you will be able to do much with it.

Basically it goes like this as far as internet.

Browsing websites-Pretty good most of the time, at peak times it gets slow but nothing too bad.
Downloading stuff-Very poor from out of campus stuff.
Playing games-Very poor for out of campus stuff.

What I mean by out of campus stuff is the campus has a network within it which basically acts as a big LAN connection. So you can download stuff from other computers on the campus network easilly, and play games between them.

Unfortunatly consoles and online games get very poor connections and usually won't let you even play, and if you manage to connect you will lag out almost immediatly.

Some computer games work ok online, there isn't any rhyme or reason to the reasons. They said they would be installing something called a packet shaper 'soon' which would allow people to have the network allow certain games to be played. However it was supposed to be on last year, but was delayed for a semester, then it was delayed again until last semester; and I havn't heard anything on it since. So no idea what ever happened to it.

Basically, if you want to play games here you are stuck with games that allow LAN connections and then other players on campus playing the same game.

Business law 1(BUS334) and 2(BUS335), business in the western hemisphere(BUSY363), sociology sex and gender roles(SOC310), advanced composition(ENG301W), american lit 2(ENG221). So not looking foward to american lit and advanced comp. Thankfully for my business classes I have really good teachers, unfortunatly I have heard horrible things about my american lit teacher.

Here is the situation, last semester there was a person in our suite who no one really liked; it wasn't a major problem and we delt with it the semester. Thankfully he made plans to live off campus, he filled out the forms and such and was officially out i believe. We wanted to get a friend of ours into the vacant spot and filled out the request before the semester ended.

However now he says he is comming back because his off campus arrangement didn't work out. Is he guarenteed his old spot? I don't know if they ever officially moved anyone into the spot when he left, I just know that we submitted the location change form to res life trying to get our friend into the suite.

Since classes start the 22nd, do we have to wait until then to apply for a job, or can we call ahead of time? I know last semester I waited(stupid mistake..) until day 3 of classes to start looking and they were almost all taken for the stuff that interested me.

While I, unfortunatly can not help you with the whole 'can you register now or not' thing; I can tell you that during orientation they have a segment just for registering classes; so the idea that you can only do it after/during orientation does have some plausability. Personally, though I did not come here as a freshman I was able to register for classes at orientation. I ended up with mostly good classes, suggest if you havn't already go to ratemyprofessor or similiar and do some research on who is good and who isn't, a lot of times a really good teacher will have space open because the class is at a less than desirable time; and a really good teacher at a crappy time is a whole lot better than a bad teacher at the perfect time.

most likely you will be put into one of the towers, there is a chance you may end up in a hotel.

I recently recieved my Spring 07 bill in the mail and I noticed that work study was not listed under the deferments. Last semester I got a little card saying I was able to do work study, though I did not actually do the work study(had some issues getting the ID they wanted in time). I am wondering if it means I am no longer allowed to do work study for the spring semester, or if it just isn't listed on the bill for some reason, or some other reason.

Thanks.

Some of the bathrooms in the towers have 2 showers instead of 1. Last semester there was 2(tower 2) this semester only 1(tower 4). But if you are comming in as a freshman it really doesn't matter since generally speaking they don't stick freshmen in the towers.

It all depends on the person. Most likely at first you will go through a range of emotions, but you get through it or you don't. If you can get through it then you will start to have a lot of fun, if you can't you should possibly persue other means.

But to comment on a statement you made "How do you guys find it living on your own" isn't really applicable unless you are living in a single bedroom apartment somewhere off campus; because you will be surrounded by people, many of whom have gone or are going through the same things you are. Personally yes when I first left I was worried, worried about my abilities to succeed, about being away(505 miles from my house to buff state) but I was able to deal with it, I quickly saw that the people here for the most part are awsome and began to have a good time meeting new people and developing friendships with them.

So while I can't say how you will do, I can say that it is probably not nearly as bad as you are thinking it will be.

I am a Business Administration major, and I need 2 art classes. Last semester I took intro the sculpture FAR 240, and i needed a 2nd art class so this comming semester I registered for intro the photography FAR 220. The class is showing up at the bottom as part of my 'current' classes, and it is giving me the credits for it, however the class is not showing up as fufilling my art requirement. It is on the list of classes that fit the requirement. I registered quite some time ago for next semester, so I don't think it is just a 'give it a day' thing.

So im wondering why it isn't showing up as meeting the requirement.

Thanks

I'm transferring to Buff State for the Spring 2007 semester and I was wondering if I am suppose to register for classes on December 4th or do you register for classes during the January 18th orientation??

Assuming you have all the paper work and such in and registered you might be able to register on the 4th. You can try logging onto Saber. Your user name is the first 4 letters of your last name, the first letter of your first name the first letter of your middle name(if you used it in registration) the 2nd number of the month you were born the 2nd number of the day you were born. So for example John Mike Roberts born on December 15th would be RobeJM25

Forget exactly how its determined, you can try the first 6 didgets of your social. There are directions somewhere on the website that says how you can get your username/password.

However you will be able to register on/just after orientation, they usually have part of the orientation to be for people registering for classes. Just not sure if you will be able to register prior to it.
