Key Fob replacement is $20 and mailbox key is $2...

this is just a link to the residence life page that tells what the replacement cost is

You might want to let your RA know that you lost them.

I don't think that many graduate students get the meal plan. It's a waste of the money and the food on campus isn't that good. You're better off just going grocery shopping, it's a lot cheaper.

What are the hours for the Underground Cafe?

And do they REALLY put laxatives in the food in the social hall? (I doubt it but still.....)

It hasn't been proven that they put laxatives in the food but I used to get sick all the time from eating Buff State food, and since I stopped eating on campus I don't get sick as much.

QUOTE (mikki @ Oct 8 2007, 06:09 PM) *
My daughter has found her things in her drawers moved and stuff on her desk moved, its personal stuff that noone else should be touching without permission. Also the roommate also does not wash her clothes, towels etc. and if the door is left shut her room really smells. Any suggestions on how to handle the situation would be greatly appreaciated. She doesn't want to hurt the girls feelings, but the smell is becoming unbearable.

That sucks that her roomate feels the need to touch stuff that isn't hers. Your daughter could ask her nicely not to go through her stuff. As far as the smell, maybe your daughter could suggest they do laundry together that way it won't sound mean. Maybe if your daughter cleans around her roomate enough she might start cleaning. She could always ask her RA for options. There is no nice way to tell someone they smell. If your daughter really finds the smell unbearable, she should say something. Feelings may be hurt, but your daughter should be able to be comfortable in her own room.

My child is very unhappy with her roommate.

Does anyone have the same problem?

Was he/she able to change rooms?

If the room isn't changed this semester, will they do it next semester?

Does anyone know what would be a valid reason to make a change?

I know each semester each student has a chance to request a room change. Has your daughter talked to her RA or her roomate about the problem? What is the problem?

My parents wanted me to go to SUNY Brockport. They supported my decision for Buff State since I was gonna go no matter what they thought. The only I don't really like is the food and the weather. I'm here because I wanna be here. No one is here against their own will. If you don't wanna be here then transfer or don't go to school.

So I have been pondering switching colleges. I go to NU right now and I dorm. I am considered a junior here but I will be switching majors if i go 2 Buff State. I would transfer for next sem. I was wondering if there would b any chance I could get an apartment instead of a dorm. I'll b 20 yrs old if I do get in and decide to switch. If age or something has to do with it. Although I will probably be considered a sophomore cuz only some of my gen ed will transfer. Thanks for your help.

I believe that transfers are exempt, but I'm not sure. If you transfer with enough credits for a junior you should be fine even if you switch majors.

The good thing is the hotels are air conditioned.

Yeah the hotels have bigger beds, bigger rooms, and air conditioning. You may have to get to campus, but the rooms are better.

Unless you come in with a very high gpa, don't count on getting a single room. Current students with previous housing points have priority for single rooms.

The rooms are not big enough for 3 people. You will be crammed in there. If you want a dresser or desk, then get there before your roomates.

OUCH!! I am not getting a very good first impression for this school. Whats with the Hotel situation? They actually offer that? How does that work? Maybe I should just start looking for an appartment? Thanks again for everyones help!!

Yeah Buff State and their housing selection stinks. You would be better off living off campus. I moved into my apartment and I'm paying 1/2 of what I would be paying for the dorms. I have my own room, and there are no dumb rules.

Im sure everyone who found out that they have 2 roomates when they applied for a double are going to be complaining but it doesnt seem fair. Are they really going to put 3 people in a double room, is there any way out?

Yeah they actually do triples. People move out within the first few weeks, and then hopefully you'll only have one roomate. The rooms are small, so I'm not sure how they can even fit 3 people in it. Once you can just live off campus, it's cheaper, and way better.

Yeah Buff State has a habit of assigning triples. Hopefully by the 2nd week of school, you'll only have 1 roomate. If you got put in Porter instead of the towers, the towers were probably filled up by the time you applied. I know people who were in the towers last year, but got stuck in Porter because they didn't apply in time.

hi,

just wondering if foliding tables would be allowed in dorm rooms. i plan on eating in my room more now that i don't have a meal plan and last semester it was very inconvenient to try to clear desk space with my computer in the way just to have enough room to eat

I doubt you can, since they have a rule against extra furniture. You might be able to get away with a tv tray since you can easily fold and hide it.

I highly doubt you will get put in the towers. Some of my friends who lived in the towers this past year got assigned to Porter for next year.

As in width and height.
Trying to see how big of a curtain I need to cover it.
Any and all help is appreciated!

There's a Target on Elmwood so just wait until you see your closet, then go shopping.

hey guys, okay i have a few concerns. i'm tranferring to buffalo state to major in hospitality & administration and im tranferring with a liberal arts & sciences degree so all my gen ed requirements are fulfilled. i checked the buffalostate website and all the hospitality classes are filled! so .. now what ? what classes would i be taking? any advice you guys have is totally appreciated.

& i called the hospitality office but no one picked up =(

You're not the only one that has that problem. I have a few friends in that major and all the courses they need are filled up. I would say to keep calling the hospitality office until someone picks up, or try to find their email from the website.

Twin size sheets are fine. Just go to Target or Walmart and buy some. It's a good idea to buy a foam pad for extra comfort.
