We will begin refunding of the direct loan program the second week of classes and all other aid shortly afterwards.

Financial Aid

Seeing as the first week of classes is almost completed, would filling out direct deposit for loan refund still be worthwhile? Im unsure of how long it takes to process the paperwork so Im just wondering if it will really make receiving loan refunds that much quicker than not completing the direct deposit forms for loan refunds.

Well just keep trying... still have about a month to go so you've got time. If you can't get a hold of them just try to make reasonable plans as far as certain items to share with the one you have been in contact with and hope the other doesn't bring wayyyyy too much stuff for the available space

go to the residence life site & click on resnet

Unless there was some huge change i never heard of there is not wifi in the dorms. You can connect to the campus network using an ethernet cable running from the wall jack to your computer.

Just wondering if anyone is bringing there amp with them, and would there be enough room in a 3 person dorm?
also what kind of music do you play/listen to?
i'm brad friend me on Facebook

http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=566016176

You might be able to manage a guitar but i highly doubt having a large amp would be a wise decision especially in a triple since you'll need space to store things for 3 people instead of the 2 that the rooms were designed for.

boo u =[ i have a triple lOl i'm so worried

Just don't go into it expecting the worst or you may not be able to see the good in it. It really all depends on how good the people you live with are. I've seen it work very well and I've seen it where two get along and one is left to the side. So just be open to it being a great experience and look for the positive in it- you have two people in close proximity you could become great friends with.

The format I posted has worked for two years, and im pretty certain the zip code is 14222, not 14213. 14213 zip code is south of Buffalo State College. You really don't need to complicate it with the extension as well, because the mail goes to the mail room no matter what and they know the building since they kind of work there...

JDar is correct on what they have said... what they put is how the school has it posted on the residence life website where it tells about mailing addresses.

Since this topic is a little outdated I thought I would give an update:

There is now a Hollister in the Galleria!

And as of last January, you now need an actual passport to cross the border... just so you all are prepared!

Welcome to Buff State biggrin.gif I'm a senior now so I am here to answer any of your questions!

I'm a senior for the next few weeks then i'll have officially graduated and get to spend another 2 yrs of my life at Buff State for graduate school. (hoping i'll be able to sneak up to the honors lounge to hang out with some of the awesome people up there still though)

hey, i'm a forensic chem major too, i didn't think there were any others out there!

You'll find that there are quite a few forensic chemistry majors at buffalo state... moreso than stright chemistry majors... or at least i sure knew more forensic chem majors than straight chem majors.

Im doing my internship right now but as soon as that is done i'll be graduating with my B.S. in forensic chemistry.

Btw... a great way to get to know more chem/forensic chem majors is attending the Chemistry/Forensic Club... great place to hang out with other people with similar interests... the club has great members and a great advisor who is willing to help you with a lot of different things.

You're forgetting the commuting. Ask anyone that commutes and the first thirty minutes of the converation will be about how terrible the parking is. Buffalo State swears there are enough spots to park but you'd have a better chance winning the lottery then finding someone that commutes and agrees with them.

If it is an apartment near campus they could easily walk or ride a bike to campus rather than spend money for gas and vehicle maintenance

I'm a transfer, too. I called this morning and they said that transfers will be in the hotel. Period. That isn't exactly ideal. That said, anyone seeking roommates for an off-campus apartment?

If you begin your search soon you should easily be able to find an apartment closer to the campus than the hotel will be as well as cheaper than what it costs to live on campus. The only difficult part is finding a place that is affordable or finding enough roommates to make it affordable.

Hi there....
I'm a transfer this semester, theatre major, and I'm looking for a roommate, or two, or three for an off-campus apartment. If you're interested or know someone who might be, please do let me know. My email address is eponinet@gmail.com. I'm a pretty laid-back person, huge film buff. If you live with me, you'll get (almost) instant access to over 300 movies. Anyhow, I look forward to meeting most of you at some point.

I'm also looking for a roommate for an apartment off campus for the fall. I'll be a grad student by then but am currently working to finish an internship to be officially done with undergrad here at buff state.

Anyone looking for a place off campus feel free to message me on here and we can see if we might be able to work something out.

Hi, I want to know if a student can live off-campus and have financial aid pay for it? If I awarded a certain amount can I put it towards an apartment, or will the reduce my aid if I choose to live off-campus?

Thanks, in advance.

As long as you are eligible to live off-campus (not a freshman or sophomore who lives more than 35 miles from campus) there should be no problem with financial aid covering it. The way financial aid works in my understanding is there is an estimated cost of attendance which includes tuition, fees, books, housing etc. Then financial aid is awarded to cover those costs regardless of whether you live on or off campus. If you live off-campus and financial aid exceeds whatever charges are on your school bill you'll just get a refund which you can then use to pay rent and other expenses.

For a more affirmative answer you could give financial aid a call and they will be able to tell you with more certainty that I can.

As there seems to be a fresh wave of people joining and browsing the message boards here I'd like to make mention of the Game Room.

The Game Room is located in the basement of Campbell Student Union. There are a variety of games in there such as darts, table tennis, pool, and (as of the last time i was down there) a guitar hero arcade game. The game room also has a variety of board games for people to play. All of these are free to Buffalo State Undergrad students- Just have your Student ID with you if you want to use the equipment in the game room.

I'd also like to mention that the Game Room is a great place to meet new people. My freshman year I spent quite a bit of time down there and met countless people, some of whom became great friends.

People often complain that there isn't a lot to do on campus so stop by and give the Game Room a try.

Boy for a whole lot of posting from you two you never actually supply a real answer...

Use http://bscintra.buffalostate.edu/rhino/ to see who your roomate is, it will be updated at the beginning of July.

For all your complaints you've provided very little information yourself... you've posted a website that will be useless to them until assignments are posted anyways... a website they would be given when they receive the letter

I would just ask you try to be more respectful of the people who make an effort to answer people's questions on here and realize they are taking some of their time to look at people's questions and answer them to the best of their abilities

Thanks for your cooperation

I lived in porter for 2 years and while the fire alarms are annoying it's not the worst thing in the world... although i would advise against all proper procedure that you take a few minutes to make sure you are dressed for the weather when going out for a fire alarm (don't be the moron in boxers and sandals at 3am in mid january).

As far as the dorms again... it really does depend on the people who live around you... living in porter for 2 years i saw a variety of living situations in just that building alone... both yrs i was on floors with great people who kept clean and things were find... both years i also observed how bad some floors can be when i saw how the 2nd and 3rd floors were generally disgustingly dirty and filled with excessive amounts of annoying people

The best advice i can give no matter what dorm you will be in is to be prepared for a variety of situations but don't go into it expecting the very worst because you'll only pick up on the bad parts that way and you'll be miserable

You don't need to worry about the room assignment site for a while so don't beat yourself up trying to find it until you get a letter letting you know it's posted. It'll tell you the site in the letter you receive

Hey About The Dorm Assignments..about what time do you usually figure that out? Do they email you and tell you? Do they mail a letter or are you suppose to just figure that out? maybe wait till you get to BSC to find out lol and can you change your roomates when you get there? im talking the first day after you meet them?? lol laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

Generally room assignments are done in mid-summer and they get posted on the schools room assignment site. You should be e-mailed or sent a letter notifying you when the assignments are up as well as the site to check to find your room and roommate assignment. As far as changing rooms there should be opportunity to change rooms about 2 weeks into the semester.

Hope that helps out a bit.

What are the steps to become a commuter student instead of living in dorm I need to soon

Should just have to cancel your housing application with residence life and then just make sure you have somewhere to commute from for yourself.

But I would suggest when you hand in your request to terminate housing license you talk to someone when you hand it in and see if they can get a response while you wait so that you know that it is taken care of.

La Nova has decent wings, Duff's has really good wings (they're located on millersport and sheridan which is pretty far if you dont have a car).
the one place you MUST go for wings is the Anchor Bar downtown. this is where the buffalo wing originated from.

http://www.anchorbar.com/

All you need to know for pizza and wings is Joe's new york style pizza... corner of grant and amherst

as far as wings if you want really good... go to Duff's... corner of millersport and sheridan ... beats anchor bar any day

If you're talking about it working on campus thats a dead end. The way our internet is set up on campus, it doesnt allow for any of the different gaming consoles to get online, idk why, someone else might be able to explain it to you, but if ur really hooked on xbox live u should prepair yourself.

Actually i think the PS3 is able to get on to that gaming network because it is recognized as a computer or something- my roommate last yr was able to get his up and i think that is why... also it is possible to get a 360 to get online i'm just not entirely sure how to do it
