Took a tour today, has anyone ever lived there and would like to give some advice? I feel like i might get bored there so i am worried

Lived there my junior and senior years. Lots of fun, its VERY peaceful. The lodge is the best place, hd movie theater, videogame lounge, pool, basketball gym, fitness center and free shuttles to buff state and others. A little expensive but WORTH IT. Central AC and heat..gets no better!
do your self a favor and live there!

In addition the last post, Buffalo State provides you with a bus pass that provides you with free(*) access to the entire buffalo transportation system.. buses and subway.. it is very convenient!

* - The Buffalo State transportation pass is funded through your mandatory transportation fee that you pay along side your tuition..athletic fee etc

I am pretty sure you are not even allowed to bring your own wireless connection because if a lot of people did, it would make the internet really slow for everyone.

Correct, you are not allowed to bring your own wireless router.

Chrissy you do a great job, Amerosa is just out to ruin Buffalo States name and make my job harder to promote the school to potential new students.

Amerosa, I am a tour guide for this school, my job is to get high schoolers to attend Buffalo State. I would appreciate it if you do not insult my job. Students and parents are not as short sighted as yourself. Transfer. Please.

QUOTE (jarrod @ Feb 22 2010, 12:48 AM) *
It is a joke to say that due to the low cost of the school we are not able to have internet gaming access. This school is a state school which means 2/3 of our tuition is paid by taxpayers. All State college excluding Universities have roughly the same tuition rate with the difference being within 100 dollars. To say that we cannot afford the bandwidth is completely false. I have been to and visited many state schools (ie. Potsdam, Plattsburgh, UB, Albany, Brockport) and they all have internet access for their online games. It may not be a top of the line connection but it is at least a connection. Buffalo State is a commuter college and then a dorming college. While you would not realize this due to the parking situation, just take a tour of any of the substandard student housing and you will see what I mean. ResLife at this school is a joke, they lose mail (books especially) and tell you whatever you want to hear to get you out of the building (send your mac address and youll have xbox live!!!). Many rooms are falling apart and require repairs... put in a work order and they'll send someone to fix it in 10 weeks, who cares if the roof is leaking or the toilet is falling out of the wall and the plumbing doesn't work. There is a point we must all demand at least an average living capacity. Hopefully Buff State checks these boards and uses it in their evaluations of departments... if they even evaluate.

I totally agree with you!! the reshalls are a joke for the amount of money being paid. as for the bandwidth issues.. what i said was a quote from the associate director of reslife curtis brickhouse. the answer made sense to me but was unaware other state schools lacked this problem.. honestly though.. im not surprised.. its buff state.. the last school to do anything.

Buffalo State needed to do these projects all at once? Do you see how difficult times are? Do you see how crappy NYS finances are? While we had the money we needed to do these projects. Again.. your complaining about problems.. that THEY ARE FIXING but its an inconvenience to you both ways. and you are not just a number... go to UB and tell me its different there.. also yes the reshalls suckkk i was in tower 1 and omg it sucked but after the new reshall is built ..each tower will under go an extensive renovation.. and yes you wont enjoy it cause you will be graduated by then.. oh well.. woe is life. ill say again.. deal.. or transfer.

Amerosa your argument make no sense to me and is quite frankly stupid... your complaining about construction and how your so bothered and inconvenienced yet you want improvements. Well sorry to say the improvements cant happen over night as much as Buffalo State would love for that to be true. You have two options here... 1. Transfer.. or 2. Get over it.

Ill say its a safe bet he didnt do anything.. ResLife are champs at that. Saying something then not doing it or doing the opposite. Nothing gets done there.. might I recommend just not trying and stressing your self out.. its not worth it.

if this is referring to online gaming.. plain and simply the answer is no.. lol there is not enough bandwidth on campus to support all the online gamers that wish to play online..

If you really wish to try.. call residence life.. which will end up as an unanswered call haha

I hear about all of this construction going on, new parking lot here, construction on a new residence halls, but there is some construction going on near T1 that has never been mentioned in the Record. Facing the building, it is off to the right side.

I would just like to know if anyone knows whats going on so I can know who keeps waking me up at 8am every morning.

What that construction is the expansion/construction of the campus electrical substation/data center. It is scheduled to be completed by this January.

Only if its as a room transfer, where they would just be switching who lives where; the student who moved out is still entitled to a room if they want to come back, Buff State won't give their spot away until the dorming contract is expired.

normall the housing contract/license is cancelled
