I'm an individual looking for a group that needs some extra people to fill up a suite. Res life gives preference to fill up full suites first, so even tho I dont have many points to add to your total, it may help to pick me up as an extra.

I have 607 points and am a grad student (which means nothing in ref. to housing)
I am extremely adaptable
I can be quiet and out of the way or hang out and be social
I have no problem if you want to be partying all night long ( i sleep with noise)
I have a laptop and printer and am willing to let roomies use it in case of
emergencies
I am a Student Personnel Administration major (my life is all about working with students and conflict resolution)
I will be extremely involved with student organizations, work, and classes so my roomies will have privacy

Basically, I don't want to get stuck in porter. I prefer Moore (only cuz it has a fridge and private bathroom) but will am willing to join a group (any group) to get into towers.

You can message me at spagradstudent on aim, but im leaving in 45 mins to go to housing selection and look for groups, so just give me a call 646 472 4838

I agree with nakrah, but one thing; tho it doesn't apply to your daughter (probably). Grads DO NOT get any preference to live in moore. It goes by points and nothing but points.

And no grads do not always have over 3000 points. Yes maye if they did they undergrad here and live here. But I am a new grad student and its my first semester and I only got 607 points and that includes the 120 credits they granted me with.

It's all about points, nothing but points, nothing else matters. (except medical and ra's and usg and stuff like that)

yea there's always tons of events. Sux that they dont market it well tho, I'm hoping to change that. They doing a huge springfest concert, and some photo novelty thing i think on wednesday and open mic is monday. Then there's some international cusine thingie on the 11th and probably a ton of other things that i haven't even heard of.

Too bad u aint here yet, you would like the open mic....it's gonna be a bunch of students performing and the audience gets to decide the winner.

Hey all!

I was wondering if anyone was going to the open mic night on Monday March 6, 2006 at 730pm over at the cookery. Seems like a cool event...anyone can go and its free. And the audience is the judge for the winner. The winner is gonna open at Spring Fest, which is this huge concert near the end of the semester.

If anyone wants to perform something, they can call Amy Wilson over at Student Life. I think they still registering people to perform and compete. It's being sponsored by the SUB (Student Union Board); that's where I heard about it.

I'm gonna go and check it out. Is anyone else going? If people from Moore are going, we can walk over together, if you want. I'm over in G316...you can email me at SPAGradStudent@aol.com if you wanna go together

So i found out there are four of those types of apartments from the res life people. One is called efficiency apartment, while three are listed as one bedroom single apartments. The res life guy said, the only real difference is that the single room apartments, are smaller than the four person apartments, but there's a lil "hallway" into a separate room that is the bedroom.

And the one listed as efficiency apartment is basically a studio. One big space with some space as the "living area" (probably a couch or something), some space as the "kitchen" (sink and fridge or whatever), and some space as the "bedroom" (just a bed).

Oh and he not sure about if there's microwave or not, but there is definitely EITHER a microwave or stove...so either way, there's some way to warm food.

I'm glad I went to the informational session about room selection. They were real nice and answered like a million questions even if the questions were repeated over and over.

If I wanted to get more info on this grant money, where can i find it? Like where the grant came from? Or which organization made the proposal for it? Hmm, there are some computers in the union, but yea maybe a full computer lab might be kool?

Then again there's like a ton of computers right across the way in Butler. Too bad they can't use the money to put a computer lab in one of the dorm buildings that don't have one. But yea I can understand if the grant was awarded to union...it's like impossible to allocate the money to another dept instead.

Besides, its hard work to get a grant, so the organization that went thru all the trouble of getting it should decide where it goes

I dont kno about this now...cuz the microwave in the kitchen is so old and out of date, I just naturally assumed it was by the college, no offense. But I just didn't think any student would buy such an old model that dont even got buttons or digital display.

maybe they lying and saying it's not by the school but it really is? who knows?

*sniffle* i only got 607 points. They gave me 300 since my director at moore don't know me too well and the two events I attended were back in the towers.

And I talked to Curtis in Res Life and he says they don't take into consideration ur GPA from your undergrad, they just assign u a 2.5 and multiply that with 123 credits that they automatically give to grads. And yes, only 1 semester so no help there.

Tha's too bad, im disappointed cuz this is the only chance I'll have at room selection since it's for the whole year. This time next year I will be finishing up at Buff State and on my way out...*sigh*

Oh, the apartment seems nice and everything. It's just the roommates, I'm having some trouble. It's obvious I'm not wanted here and at first my existence wasn't acknowledged, which was fine by me. I just kept out of their way and slept all day and was up all night. Now they are like, the microwave and tv are not provided by the school, why are you touching it?

i mean, hell I dont even use anything in the apartment besides my side of the room. I just up all night and use the microwave (nothing else in the kitchen, except half a shelf of the fridge) to have my lunch and dinner. i try to be courteous and sit in the living room and watch tv, rather than keep the light on and play games on my laptop or watch dvds so I dont wake up my roommate.

Basically there's alot of tension and an air of hostility in the apartment. I just feel extremely uncomfortable. I guess I'll just sit here and deal with it for another two months. Not only do I not wanna deal with the hassle of moving, I don't wanna say nothing to the director either, cuz I am applying to be an RA next year and I dont want her thinking that I can't even make it work with students.

Stuck between a rock and hard place....*sigh*

buffstatecis has a point tho....the union is kool doesn't really need to be overhauled. I would put that money into res life. Even if u can't build a whole new building, how about sprucing up what we do have? I heard that we were supposed to be re-doing the lounges in towers? No? Last I saw, tower 2's lounge had only one functioning computer (the other two sat there dead) and no printer or tv or nothing. And I'm sure there are repairs that need to be made as well throughout the dorm buildings

I would love to join you guys. I really would like to stay in Moore; the apartment is very nice but the living situation with my roommates just keeps getting worse. I can usually make it work with anyone and have no problem pulling my wieght. I don't expect everyone to be my friend, just have some common courtesy is all.

The only problem may be the points thing. I still really don't understand it, but I'm a graduate student. People keep telling me that gives me an edge to get into Moore. I'm assuming you have been through this room selection stuff before....maybe you can email me and we can talk about it?

My email is SPAGradstudent@aol.com

What comes in the kitchen? Is there a fridge, stove and microwave at least? Or a sink? You make it sound so tiny....would there be room for a stove and fridge and everything?

I think I may wanna live in the efficiency apartment if the kitchen has that stuff. I hate my living situation with the people I have been placed with. I'd be better off alone

Oh it's a male suite? I thought it was your suite? Aren't you female?

Well to be honest with you, things have taken a turn for the worse with my roommates. I really feel like crap living here. I thought I would just ignore it and tough it out for two months, but I dont even know if I can survive that long.

I wish the school would let me move into your suite. Hell any suite, i just wanna get outta here!

I had a question. Can someone tell me what exactly is provided by Buff state in the moore complex apartments? I mean, is the TV and DVD player from the school? I know the fridge and stove and kitchen comes with the apartment, what about the microwave?

Someone please let me know
