EASE & BENEFITS OF USING SCHEDULE PLANNER

• Search for and review availability of courses you are interested in taking before your registration start date.
• Allows students to set specific variables (such as course status, term, summer session) to narrow their search for the best potential schedule.
• Allows students to view multiple schedule options and compare.
• Provides for “breaks” to allow students to block off times they are unable to take classes such as for jobs or athletics.
• Displays courses available in real-time and is integrated with Banner.
• Generate and view all possible combinations using the selected classes and break times.

Use Schedule Planner to assist you with securing a full-time schedule now for Fall 2017. All undergraduate level students are strongly encouraged to register for at least 15 credit hours each semester to stay on track for graduation.

If you are on a waitlist for a Fall 2017 course, check the schedule for a section that has a seat available. It's always a best practice to secure a seat in a course as soon as possible.

Students will have the ability to Late Add courses via Banner self-service (SSB). Throughout the summer, when a session registration ends, students who wish to register for a course in that session will be able to add the class to their Add or Drop Courses Worksheet in Banner self-service (SSB) until the last day of the session. This will generate an email that students can forward to course instructor. If faculty members choose to accept the request, they will enter an Instructor Permission override for the student in Banner and the student will then register for the course. It is important to note that students are strongly encouraged to be attending the course and as up to date as possible when asking the instructor for instructor permission through the late add process.

Online Late Add Deadlines

There is no late add charge in summer only.

Don't delay, apply for summer graduation before you leave campus for the summer!! The deadline to submit applications for August graduation is Friday June 2nd. You can download the form or complete one in person at the Registrar’s Office in Moot Hall.

The minimum number of credits required for a degree is 120; some majors require more. See your advisor for questions.

If you are currently enrolled and plan to take courses in fall 2017, you are strongly encouraged to complete your registration by the end of the spring semester to secure your desired schedule. Click to login to Banner (SSB).

UG students are encouraged to register for 15 or more credit hours to assist in graduating on time.
UG students may take up to 19 hours in one semester if you are degree seeking and have a 2.00 GPA or better.
More online courses are offered this year.
There is also a feature on the Registrar's Office website to help you find online only (sections being offered 100% online) courses; find more information on the Registrar's Office Courses webpage.

If you have not met with an advisor in your major, do so at your earliest opportunity. Review what courses you should take to stay on track for graduation. Click to find department information.

Illegal course repeat warning: illegal repeats can cause loss of your time and financial aid.

Use Schedule Planner to get your desired schedule. Schedule Planner simplifies and decreases the amount of time involved in planning your schedule

Do not wait to secure a seat by remaining on a waitlist. Check the master schedule to see if other sections of the course you need have seats available or select another class that you need to stay on track to graduate. All undergraduate-level students should register for at least 15 credit hours each fall and spring semester to stay on track to graduate in 4 years.

All continuing students are strongly encouraged to register by May 5th.

HOLDS

Holds can prevent all registration related activity (including adding, dropping and withdrawing online from a course in Banner),
the release of a transcript, and the release of a diploma.

You can view holds (if applicable) directly in self-service (SSB) Banner by clicking on Student, Student Records, then View Holds.

It is important to resolve any hold (s) at least two weeks prior to the start of registration to ensure you are able to register on your assigned date.

The deadline to submit an online Withdrawal from Course or an Application for Pass/Fail Form is Friday, March 31st. Policies for both Pass/Fail and Withdrawal from Course are copied below from the 2016-2017 Undergraduate Catalog.

Pass-Fail Option

The pass-fail option permits any matriculated student to take a course for credit without receiving a letter grade of A, B, C, D, E, or EV. Students may enroll in one course each semester or summer on a pass-fail basis. All sessions combined make up the summer semester. A pass (P) grade provides credit but no quality points and is not counted in total hours used to determine cumulative average. A fail (F) grade is treated as a failure although the hours are not used in computing the cumulative average.

A pass-fail credit may be applied toward a degree. Courses required for the student’s major and minor cannot be taken on a pass-fail basis. Courses taken as part of early childhood and childhood education program concentrations and distributions may not be taken pass-fail.

Any course, except English composition 100-level courses and those required for completion of a major or a minor, may be taken on a pass-fail basis. Students must declare their intention to do so by the end of the 10th week of classes in any semester or after two-thirds of a Summer Session or January Term. After receiving the approval signature of the student’s adviser, a declaration of intent must be filed with the Registrar’s Office, Moot Hall, by the published deadline. An instructor may choose to substitute a letter grade for the pass if written consent from the student is received and the form is submitted prior to the end of the semester. Once an application for pass-fail has been submitted, the pass-fail option for that semester has been exhausted. Subsequent filing of a substitution form to receive a letter grade does not allow submission of another pass-fail application for that semester.

Students may not use pass-fail to repeat a course for which a grade of C- or below was earned.

Note: Students are cautioned that the amount of pass-fail work permitted may jeopardize their chances for admission to graduate or professional school or for career placement.

Withdrawal from Courses

Instructors are required to notify students of their academic standing no later than the end of the ninth week of the semester, or after two-thirds of a summer session or January Term. If a student does not officially withdraw from a course and stops attending, a grade of E will be recorded.

Students who wish to leave a course after the drop/add period and before the final withdrawal date (the end of the 10th week of the semester, or after two-thirds of a Summer Session or January Term) may withdraw via Self Service Banner. Nonattendance at the first class meeting does not withdraw a student from a class.

Students withdrawing from some coursework may be eligible for a refund in accordance with the college refund schedule, which is posted each term at http://studentaccounts.buffalostate.edu/. Beyond the end of the refund schedule’s time limit, full charges are assessed. Student-teaching courses have different deadlines. Students should check with their departments.

Withdrawals remain on the transcript and are recorded as W’s but do not count in credit hours or GPAs. Withdrawal from a course may affect eligibility for financial aid in the current semester and in future semesters. For additional information about financial aid eligibility, refer to the financial aid section of this catalog, or online at http://financialaid.buffalostate.edu/.

Before withdrawing from a course, careful thought should be given to the reasons for withdrawing and possible consequences. Course Withdrawals can have a negative impact on both your progress toward graduation and eligibility for financial aid. Withdrawal from Course should be used infrequently and considered an action of last resort. It is to your advantage to read the instructions under Withdrawal from Course at http://registrar.buffalostate.edu/withdrawal-course before withdrawing.

*All withdrawal from course activity is done directly in Banner and must be completed no later than 11:59pm on Friday, March 31st.
