Hey everyone :]

i'm a transfer and i'm looking to live in one of the towers buildings or porter. i've been on the phone with admissions and reslife all day trying to get myself into one of these buildings to look at the rooms next week because i don't want to wait until construction is done sometime next month.

i was wondering if anyone had photos of the rooms, because the images on the website really aren't showing me anything as far as actual room size, etc.

thanks guys, i appreciate it.

-lauren

i just took some pics but i need a usb cord...wen i get one ill send you some pics

Residence life received my application on the 24th do you think that's is still fairly early because I really don't want to get stuck in a hotel..

it really depends on the space available bc its not guaranteed for transfer students...most ppl i know who transferred here were put in hotels and after a semester they got put in dorms

This may the worst question ever (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mellow.gif) , but i'm wondering if people(friends or girlfriend/fiancee) are allowed in the dorms, in the weekend. And if its obligated to sleep the weekend in a dorm. Sorry again for the questions.

yea visitors are allowed in the dorms. Guests may stay for up to 72 consecutive hours, but no more than a total of five days per month. you don' have to stay in your dorm on weekends...you decide what you want to do

I am an incoming freshman for Fall 2009.
I visited the campus this past weekend, attended an information meeting, and had a campus tour. The rep took us through Neuman Hall and we saw a room that once was a triple (now a double).
I really wanted to see a room in Porter but was unable to do so.
From what I am hearing and reading the dorm with possibly larger rooms (not by much though) and better bathrooms is Porter.
Porter has more floors (total of 9) than the other two halls and also has some upperclassmen and transfers. I believe there is also an all-girls floor in Porter (at least the brochure says so), more kitchens and lounges. No first-year mentors though.

If you've never been in a dorm before then how do you choose? Does it matter? Do you care that showers in Neuman/Perry have curtains and not stalls like Porter?

Just wondering (I have no answers)

PORTER HAS 16 FYM'S(FIRST YEAR MENTORS)- 2 PER FLOOR...U FILL OUT THE HOUSING APP AND U REQUEST WHICH DORM YOU PREFER TO LIVE IN...BASED ON THE DESCRIPTIONS IN THE BROCHURE AND ON THE HOUSING APP, YOU REQUEST WHICH ONE BEST SUITS YOU

Hi, I'm transferring to Buffalo State College in the fall and I wanted to know where incoming transfer students are staying? If they are staying in a hotel will it be shared with other students? I also wanted to know the deadline to send in my room and board papers because I recently recieved everything in the mail...Thanx = )

if ur placed in a hotel, yes youll be with other students...send in ur housing apps asap!!! by doing so, you may be placed on campus, rather than off!!

oh ok Buffalo State sounds like its alot of fun...how would u describe your experience at buffalo? Yeah that's why i'm transferring from VSU cause they not really giving alot of financial aid and i'm actually from NY so which means i'm paying out of state fees that's not even worth it.

yeah im from ny too and they wanted me to pay over 15000 out of pocket....my experience so far is good...there are a lot of opportunities out there for you to get involved on campus, such as internships, jobs. community service etc. in my major(criminal justice)
, the professors know what they are teaching becuz they have experience in the field. because Buffalo state is not that big of a campus, there are more one on one attention with your professors and the classrooms arent that big...my biggest class now is a intro course and it has about 60 students, but my psych class had about 400 kids but there are more small classrooms than big ones.

My name is Latoya Turner. I am transfer student from Virginia State University. I got accepted into Buffalo State for the fall 2009 semester and considering going to the school. But before i make my decision on attending buffalo I wanted to know what are some things to do on and off campus? I also wanted to know how campus life has been for the current students here at Buffalo State? I heard some good things about this school from my highschool teachers and friends that currently attend buffalo but I wanted to know what other people that I don't know think.

I was gonna go to VSU but i chose Buffalo becuz of financial aid...off campus there are movies theatres, restaurants, shopping, etc. right in the area and are minutes away from campus...if you like to party, there is always a party going on off campus....on campus, there are clubs that you can join to get to know people more and they have competitions, fashion shows, and pageants that you can get involved with.

I will be a freshman in the fall of 2009. I know every year the dorms will be a bit different due to new residents. How are they this year? Is Perry a good choice? I've heard that it is in a good location. If not, any other suggestions? Any feedback is much appreciated! Thanks. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

nah dont pick perry unless u want the worst bathrooms and bad everything else. the only good thing is that you actually get the "dorm feeling" because its smaller, less residents, and close knit. If I was you, request porter Hall. We have 9 floors, lounges on every floor, kitchens on every other floor and the rooms are bigger. In addition, we have the BEST bathrooms out of all the freshman dorms because they are newly renovated. We have stalls on the showers and the other freshman dorms has shower curtains. TRUST ME IF YOU PICK PORTER YOU WONT REGRET IT!!!!

I agree perry is in a good location cuz its near to the gym, the union, and most of the acdemic buildings but remember that buff state isnt a large campus. all the buildings are near to one another so regardless of whichever freshman dorm you reside in, you wont be too far from all the buildings.
