Hey I found this on facebook, I think it's good for a laugh and it is surprisingly true.

1) You refer to the school as Buff State and not Buffalo State.
2) You know what an FOB and FYM are.
3) You live on Quesadillas, Focaccias, and Taco Bell.
4) You have a drawer full of menus of take-out places that deliver because you live on Quesadillas and so on.
5) Your RA is no longer an RA, he's a spider killer.
6) You have the same black sweatshirt from Steve and Barry's that everyone else does.
7) You can get into a bar with a chalked ID.
8) There is puke all over the toilet seat after a cheap Monday night drinking session.
9) The classroom building isn't just classrooms.
10) Your drawers shake the whole building when they close.
11) There isn't a working microwave to be found in your building.
12) Phone Books aren't for calling people, they're used as lifters to make your bed higher.
13) You have enough party flyers by the end of first semester to cover your whole door.
14) The million squirrels on campus eat better than you do.
15) Nobody knows where ResNet is located, and they don't return your messages till two weeks later.
16) You don't get your mail until two Mondays after it has arrived at the college, even if it was sent priority.
17) The soggy pizza in the dining hall looks oddly identical to the soggy pizza they served the day before.
18) Shower curtains make the best closet doors.
19) You have to walk all the way to the Student Union to find out the change machine is broken when you already have a load of laundry in the washer.
20) It takes two cycles to dry every load of laundry.
21) Whenever you really need something, nine of of ten times it is broken.
22) There are penises drawn all over the doors.
23) You have labels on your doors that say "Pluggage" instead of Luggage.
24) You have a Step team that practices at 4:00AM.
25) You no longer smell the weed, because your nostrils have adapted to the constant 24/7 smell.
26) You have everyone's leftover Ramen Noodles in your bathroom sink.
27) You see people walking around campus with their umbrellas up, but it's not raining.
28) People around you feel as if screaming at the top of their lungs is the appropriate thing to do at 4AM.
29) You feel as if you will die as a result of 2nd Hand Smoke.
30) You have random colored tiles on your bathroom floor that fit no pattern at all.
31) You wonder if the person who took a shower before you is going bald because of the chunk of hair you found in the shower drain.
32) You can NEVER predict the weather, even if you are from the area.
33) The weekend starts on Thursday.
34) The ice cream bar in the dining hall is the highlight of your day.
35) The bus schedule is mad confusing, and you couldn't figure it out to save your life.
36) The walls of your room look as if they started painting it, then took a lunch break and never came back.
37) There is a gym in some of dorms basements that nobody ever uses.
38) People feel that leaving their laundry in the washer and dryer 2 hours over the time it is done is an all right thing.
39) You try and start sneaking rice crispies out of the dining hall every night.
40) It takes you at least five minutes to find a clean plate, silverware, and glass.....sometimes it takes longer.
41) You can wake up in the morning for your 8AM class, and people are still playing pool from the night before.
42) You spend your first few weeks arguing whether it is called, "Pop" or "Soda."
43) You've learned not to even bother reaching for paper towels on Sunday, because they have been gone since Friday afternoon.
44) All the condoms you've seen come with directions on how to use them.
45) Seeing shopping carts everywhere is a pretty normal thing. In fact, they have a shopping cart contest at homecoming.
46) The most exciting thing you do on Sunday is go to dinner.
47) You starve on Friday and Saturday nights because nothing is ever open in the union.
48) When you try to register for classes, the website won't let you log on because it's either on overload, crashed, or "outside of normal hours".
49) The advising sessions for what you should take in the next semester are pointless, and just well suck.
50) The closest parking space to your next class is in Canada.
51) You have mastered the art of shaving your legs standing up and in the dark, because there is no light in the shower stalls to help you.
52) You get back to the dorm from Thanksgiving break and there are 24 hours a day quiet time signs everywhere from "the staff," and they say this is your warning. Then while you are trying to take your precious middle of the day nap, theres a screaming lunatic right outside your door.
53) Standing outside in the cold during a fire drill is part of your normal schedule.

You can have a fridge, no microwave. Unless you get the one the school provides that comes attatched to the fridge. Also if you have a toster oven, rice maker, coffee maker etc, it needs to have a self timer.

Im pretty sure the parking hall is where the Univerity Police is, I think it's called Chase. If you look on the map, its left of Perry Hall.

There are 2 cable outlets per room and internet outlets. You won't need a splitter.

There are also tons of toiletries you need once youre here like toothpaste, shampoo, soap. airfreshener and whatnot.

It gets very very hot so bring a fan or buy one here.

You won't need bed risers UNLESS your're in Porter.

Don't listen to those. Last year i was all panicky that I was not gonna be there on time. You can move in the 26th or in November for all they care. And there is usually someone there 24 hours. So even if you show up the 26th at 10pm, they wont deny you a room.

Woah woah woah.

Everyone's entitled to their own opinions. Grady just feels very strongly on his beliefs.

If your friend is not allowed to reside on campus then that's one thing, especially if she meets the requirements. But as Karebear (Karen) said earlier, if it was just that there hadn't been a room assigned yet, she can probably check now. I'm sure Buffalo State would never turn down someone's cash, even if they get a triple. I would too use the word "institution" lightly. wink.gif

yeah, actually, its worth buying your own. Every residence hall has a microwave or two. I know Porter has a few. But you they run about $50-$100 for a small one, and you can use it every year. I'm sure none of you will be doing heavy duty cooking with a meal plan.

They do have them in the school bookstore, they are sold for about $7. So yeah, if you can find it cheaper then definately go for it.

I live in Perry and have been to neuman and I feel Perry is best, no just because I live here but because of all the people who have switched from Neuman to Perry. They are both the same in the way the rooms and hall are set up, but Perry is better maintained and closer to almost everything. Very convinient. biggrin.gif

Hey everyone and welcome. My name is Kussy and I am a freshman here at Buffalo State. I had just as many questions as you all do now back when I was a high school senior. Infact I think you can all still see the questions and posts I used to make.

If you guys want to ask me anything please do so. You won't be bothering me as much as I probably bothered a bunch of the admins on this board. If you want to know how the course is, the residence halls, campus life, or even party life. I'll try to answer as many of you guys questions as I can.

So please feel free to contact me, My email is mastermindkg@aol.com and screenname is Mastermindkg.

It was very very surprising when I heard the EOP mentors actually advising us to take 12 or even 9 credits this year. Their excuse is that you will have 5-6 years to graduate so why rush? mad.gif

Everyone should take the needed 15, at least. The only way you can be a sophmore by next year is if you take 18 credit hours next term to make up for it. You can always see if you can add a class online. There are many positions open. I know it said Sept 2nd was the last day. But still try and see. If not then you're gonne hzve to be stuck taking 6 courses in the spring.
